Another one of the series of pupet commercials that Nike have done featuring Le Bron and Cobe but this time round featuring the mic skills of KRS One as Santa!

I know I could not believe it either!
Slick Rick the ruler must have hit some hard times as he is selling off this gems including this diamond encrusted trademark eye patch that according to the description was a pressie from his mrs!

Here is the description from the auctioneers site...
A Multicolored Diamond Eye Patch of camouflage design, set with pavé-set colorless, pink, yellow, blue and black diamonds, to the similarly set flat curb-link chain, ending with triple black elastic band, length adjustable. In 1986, Slick Rick defined the ‘Bling Bling’ look with his fingers adorned with rings, a diamond and gold-capped tooth and a diamond eye patch. The diamond eye patch is still the favored signature of the artist. This Multicolor Diamond Eye Patch was individually designed for Slick Rick by his wife Mandy for the artist’s 40th birthday in 2005. J-Rocc Vs Jazzman

The brilliant DJ J-Rocc has teamed up with our mate Jazzman Gerald to put together this brilliant mix of the gritty funk & soul for which Jazzman records are so well known.



Being distributed through the good people at Boombox (that also deal with the distribution of my J-Dilla and Motown tribute mixes) this is set to be available in all decent record shops and comes very highly recommended.

We have no news on the track listing as yet but you can be guaranteed that it is sure to be jam packed with soulful bangers expertly blended by one of the top dogs in the game so go cop this!

Bobbito teams up with Pro Keds

My man Bobbito has just teamed up with Pro Keds to design a 30th anniversary edition of their classic Royal Flush shoes. As we all know when it comes to sneaker history, basketball history and latin music and culture history especially when it comes to his beloved NYC none know it or show it better than Cool Bob Love so I will leave it to the man himeself!

If you have not copped it already then go grab Bob's compilation The Connection Vol.1 he put together alongside Rich Medina from R2 Records now!

Hip-Hop EPKs (Electronic Press Kits)

EPKs for those of you that don't know are a music industry tool for promoting a new album, single or act to the press etc. It will usually include a press release, still pics, at least a couple of the tracks from the album and more often that not a filmed piece about the artist and what has gone into the album.

Here are some EPKs from my favourite projects and artists..

An all time classic Nas's Illmatic EPK features interviews with a very young nas as well as Premo, Q-Tip, Large Pro & Pete Rock

Another classic is the EPK for 3 Feet High & Rising. Not only does is feature a mad young De La and Prince Paul but also gives you a climpse into the inner sanctum of the time.

Wu-Tang's Enter The 36 Chambers actually has 2 EPKs. Introducing the key members and the concepts behind Wu it is well worth a look! Here's Pt.1

Twelve 12's of Tribe Mix

I was recently asked by the good people at Southern Hospitality to do a mix for their series of "Twelve 12's" mixes.

Like most great ideas it is a simple one. A DJ selects Twelve 12's mixes them together, using no Serato, studio trickery etc and then spreads the word.

As per usual I felt I had to theme the mix so did a Tribe Called Quest special with a few of your fav' bangers mixed in with some remixes and B Sides.
